The Home Depot Pro Paint Program

The more you buy, the more you save.

Professional builders, contractors, remodelers and property managers can now receive generous volume discounts when they purchase paint, primer and stain through the Pro Paint Program at The Home Depot. The Home Depot’s professional customers count on the everyday low pricing and outstanding quality of BEHR, Glidden or KILZ paint, stain and primer, and with volume pricing they have even more opportunities to save. To qualify for the discounts, simply order the BEHR, Glidden or KILZ paint, stain or primer you need in case quantities through the Pro Desk or Special Services Desk at The Home Depot. Your Pro Desk representative will quickly calculate your discount level. Then, throughout the year, you will continue to receive that volume discount on every order for BEHR, Glidden or KILZ paint, stain or primer you place through the Pro Desk or Special Services Desk. “Discounts are taken automatically based on the quantity of paint, stain or primer you plan to purchase in an entire year,” says Alan Krusemark, Home Depot Pro Merchant. “But the best part is the discount is over and above our everyday low pricing—the reason so many professionals buy paint at The Home Depot already.” Getting started To start using the Pro Paint Program, visit the Pro Desk or Special Services Desk at your Home Depot location and place your first order. Your Pro Desk representative will ask you to approximate the amount of paint you will order during the rest of the year and activate your volume discount based on that number. “From your very first order, you will receive your professional discount,” says Chad Van Lue, Director of Pro Sales, Glidden Paint. “Then, in just a few days, your order will be available to pick up at the store, or if you prefer, larger orders—96 gallons or more—can be delivered free to your company or job site.” Please note: To be eligible, orders must be in case quantities (a case equals either four one-gallon containers or one five-gallon container), only paint, stain and primer are eligible for the discount (no accessories), and paint, stain or primer purchased from store shelves does not qualify for the discount. Your purchase can be charged to The Home Depot Credit Card, The Home Depot Commercial Credit Card, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. Plus Pro customers can use The Home Depot’s Business financing tools. “The Home Depot wants to be more than your retailer,” says Alan Krusemark, Home Depot Pro Merchant. “We want to be your business partner.” Best of all, the Pro Paint Program combines the quality of Behr, Glidden and Kilz paint and primer with the support and expertise of The Home Depot, the convenience of one-stop shopping and The Home Depot’s guaranteed low prices. “I love the paints and primers I get from The Home Depot,” says Carlos Gallego, owner of Finitus Painting in Orlando, Fla., “and now with the volume pricing, it’s a no-brainer. I have really saved a lot. I buy everything through the Pro Desk at The Home Depot. My Pro representatives are great to work with. I can’t say enough good about them.” ----By Pam Gruebnau Pick the right paint for the job Exterior paint is offered in several "specialty" formulas designed to meet specific requirements. Use this chart to select the paint that is appropriate for your outdoor painting project:

Paint Type What You Should Know
Floor/Porch Paint

  • Oil and latex available; 100% acrylic latex lends the best results

  • Provides weather-resistant coverage for garages, porches, decks and concrete surfaces

Gutter Paint

  • Oil and latex are both available; oil is better for tin gutters

  • Adheres well to galvanized steel and aluminum

  • A galvanized metal primer must be applied before painting

House/Siding Paint

  • Oil and latex formulations available

  • Will withstand wear and exposure to severe weather conditions

  • Manufacturers offer specific formulations for regional climates

Masonry Paints

  • Usually latex

  • Ideal for stucco, concrete, cement and shingles

  • Most require a special pretreatment or bonding primer

Pool and Marine Paint

  • Look for a polymerized cement-based product for concrete and gunite pools

  • Look for paints that provide stain- and abrasion-resistance

  • Be sure to check for compatibility with surface (pool, concrete deck or spa)

Roof Paint

  • Look for an acrylic-latex blend

  • Most are mildew- and algae-proof

  • Should not be used for waterproofing or to repair roof leaks

  • Can be tinted to match roof color
